The seconds stretch out and even the rhythmic ticking of the clock over my doorway reminds me of Leo pulsing into me. The skin between my thighs is perpetually slick and I’m even more conscious of it whenever he’s around me. We are somehow holding on to an act of normalcy that we weren’t even able to feign before we had sex. We’ve resigned to the fog of arousal that clouds the empty spaces between our bodies. We’ve learned to manage it well enough to avoid idling awkwardly in front of it. Inhaling it and savoring it, instead.

I don’t understand how he could appear this calm and unaffected when my skin is screaming for his touch. Can’t he hear it? I’m certain he can see the ways my entire body ripples when he is near.

The air was colder and damp under the cloak of the trees as she began walking through the woods. Stepping up over branches and tripping over ivy made the walk seem more like an obstacle course. She pondered whether JT set it up this way so that no one could get near his house; he seemed the type.

Just getting through a thicket, she spun around at the sound of leaves rustling, something coming quickly in her direction. The growl she heard made her heart nearly stop. It was like nothing she had ever heard before, nothing that she wanted to hear again. Turning away from the sound, she started to run but slid to a stop, falling on her ass as a large black wolf appeared in front of her.

Crawling backwards to get away, she said, “Nice dog…go find a bone. Wait, not a bone. I have skinny bones, no meat.”

The wolf’s eyes seemed to glow as he stalked towards her. This was not how she planned to spend her morning; being eaten by a wild animal. With every inch she backed away, the wolf took another step closer. It moved with her like a predator, each step placed carefully, slowly. It was as if it was enjoying making her squirm.

“I’m not afraid of you!”

It was a lie of course and she wondered if the wolf could smell her fear. She glanced quickly behind her and saw the fallen tree. She would be stopped soon, trapped. As her hand landed on a stick she wrapped her fingers around the rough cold bark, and when she went to scoot back, she quickly swung the stick at its head. Carlee squealed and she scooted back again as large jaws opened and snatched the stick from her hand before she could land the blow. She knew she was in serious trouble.

Cam Cassidy’s Bio

Cam Cassidy grew up in a small Ohio farming community.  The lack of neighbors and companionship of mostly cows, dogs and horses left plenty of time for her passion of reading to flourish.  It wasn’t long before her imagination ran away and she was creating her own stories.

As an adult, Cam is married and the mother of three who loved keeping her on her toes.  The ever present cup of coffee in her hand and notebook in her purse has become a trademark.  While she works full time in the medical field, her spare time is filled reading and writing.  Watching her daughter ride horses, the boys dirt bikes, four wheelers, running around from one sports field to the next, she never missed jotting down that all important plot twist.

Her love romantic suspense and paranormal creatures, werewolves in particular, are showcased in her recent works.  Stay on the look out vampires, some alpha military men and cowboys that are all screaming in her head to get their stories done.

Somewhere between running kids and catching up on laundry, her hard work paid off with her first publication of Wolf’s Heart, co-authored with Ruelle Channing, by Fated Desires Publishing. The second book in the series, Wolf’s Salvation November 2014.

Ruelle Channing’s Bio

Ruelle Channing is a writer of Paranormal Romance. She grew up in a small North Carolina community with books as her best friend. Often as a child, she was scolded for propping up her book to read while she did her chores, even while her mother encouraged the interest. Her father was illiterate, but never let that keep him from learning. Most of the librarians at both her school and local library knew her by name as she was a frequent visitor there. After graduation from high school, Ruelle worked in a sewing factory. She married at age 21 and had the first of three daughters two years later. Her girls have also inherited the love of reading. As stay at home mom for 17 years, Ruelle still wondered what she wanted to be when she “grew up”. Having lived in books all her life, as an adult it has been her dream to create a world in which she would be proud to have others become entrance in. The next morning, Decker sat in his black sedan hidden by its tinted windows. The information he had received from the tablet led him to the Garden Way Hotel. The hotel was new in the city on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Decker held a camera in his hands like a photojournalist on assignment. He had taken pictures of everyone who had entered the hotel but only construction workers had entered.

Decker had been in place across from the hotel since dawn. Earlier that morning he had managed to place security cameras near the other entrances that fed directly into his computer. His laptop sat next to him in the passenger seat. Decker had views of the docking and loading area as well as the other entrances of the hotel. It was past eleven o’clock when Decker finally saw activity that interested him. A silver sedan pulled up in from of the hotel. The driver hurried out and opened the rear passenger door. The man who emerged from the backseat was tall, thin and had blonde hair that had been neatly combed back. He wore an expensive suit and a gray long coat. He looked to be in his late thirties and wore dark shades. Decker immediately recognized him and lowered the camera away from his face. His mouth gaped slightly.

“Linus.” he said aloud to himself as if to confirm what his eyes had just witnessed. He quickly raised the camera and rapidly took pictures. The driver led Linus inside. Decker made sure to get a picture of the car and

the plates as well. Decker was certain that whatever was going to happen would take place in this hotel and soon. He quickly turned his attention to his laptop and saw guards taking position at the entrances and securing the perimeter of the hotel.

Decker reached into his pocket and retrieved his cellphone. He hit a speed dial number and the phone picked up on the second ring. No one spoke on the other end. They didn’t have to.

“Confirmed. It’s Linus alright. The Garden Way Hotel.”

“Roger that. Over and out.” replied the deep male voice on the opposite end.

Decker disconnected the call. Now, like a predator hunting its prey, Decker would play the waiting game with his target until it was time to strike.

Brooks slumped on the cobblestones. The back of his skull decorated the wall with brains and blood. His gun sat limp in his hand.

Kane stood over him, but he was looking at Rowan, eyes sharp and bright. “Let me guess, CIA? If it was just you I’d have thought M-16, but he made it painfully clear how American he was.”

Rowan almost bristled at the insinuation. He was American too, but they stationed him in Eastern Europe because he blended in with the people, even with his shock of auburn hair. Shifters didn’t look any different from normal humans, besides the small things, like slightly sharper canines.

Kane’s gun hung at his side, like an afterthought, but Rowan didn’t push his luck. Wolf reflexes were superior to human reflexes. Everything about Kane was superior to a human.

“You’re smarter than your partner, but I’d expect that from a wolf,” Kane said and smirked. “An alpha.”

“And you’re an omega,” Rowan said carefully.

Kane sneered. “Obviously. I’m too small to be anything else. Isn’t it funny how we stick to meaningless ranks even when we don’t have a pack to enforce them?”

Rowan shrugged. He wasn’t going to get into a discussion about wolf politics with the most elusive assassin in Europe, maybe the world. Anything he said might piss Kane off enough to shoot him. If only he could get the gun away, he’d be able to overpower Kane with brute strength.

Alpha beat omega every time. Except this omega wasn’t normal.

“You want to kill me, don’t you?” Kane asked and sighed.

Rowan pointed his gun at the assassin and nodded. “You know I have to. You killed my partner.”

Kane rolled his eyes. “You didn’t care about him. An idiot who charges in like that was going to get killed sooner or later. I hope you’re better than that.”

This was some kind of game. A man as dangerous and as intelligent as Elijah Kane was a master of lies and intrigue. Best to keep him talking while Rowan could. “I am an alpha.”

“Than catch me,” Kane said and dodged around the corner.

“Fuck!” Rowan grumbled and ran after him.

The town was a maze of side streets and rivers, all surrounded by lush farmland and forest. The closest Old One territory started over a hundred miles off, and he doubted that’s where Kane would head. A lone omega would fare as well in strange Old One territory as he would in human territory. Not well at all. Even if a fellow wolf pack lived there, it didn’t mean they were friendly. They’d just as soon slaughter a strange shifter as a hunter.

Rowan kept Kane’s trail for a good twenty minutes. He slid through alleys and over one of the many bridges in the city, dogging Kane’s steps. Then the damn assassin slipped into a crowd, and Rowan lost Kane’s scent. Too many other smells filled the air, and that intriguing musk dissipated.

Shit. He shouldn’t find the scent of an assassin omega intriguing in the least, Rowan told himself as he went back to Brooks’ body.

Well, he found Elijah Kane but lost his impulsive partner.

He’d have to report this – and Colonel Greer would not be happy with the results.

Even worse, a strange sensation tugged at him. The alpha stirred, scratched at the confines of its cage. Rowan’s chest tightened, like something wound itself around it.

Through it.

He pushed the feeling – all feelings – aside and got to work.

Luckily she has two best friends, Adam and Wally, who help her find a way through through this men’s world.

This story is hilarious from start to finish. Ella is an amazing, fun, easy-going character. At the same time, she’s quite complex, which adds an extra layer to the book. The plot is surprising, and it’s filled with a solid dose of humor. A very enjoyable book.
