After a night of turbulent starfall—a grievous omen—six individuals begin an intersecting journey that even the gods could not have predicted.
King Orson and King Odell are power-stricken, grieving, and mad. As they wage war against a rebel army led by Elise des Eresther, it appears as though they’re merely in it for the glory. But their struggles are deeper and darker.
Dead of Knight introduces its readers to an intriguing fantasy world, and a suspensful mystery. There are several different characters we follow throughout the book. My favorite character was Elise, because she’s different, and she’s not afraid to say her mind. Also, she has several unclear motives for doing what she does, and I found that intriguing.
I would’ve liked the chapters to be a bit longer though. As it stands, the chapters alternate between different characters and, by the time I felt like I’d gotten inside the mind of one character, the POV switched to another.
Apart from that, I liked the writing, setting and plot. A solid read.
