I’m hosting a guest post today by Edward Torba, author of middle grade fantasy novel “Matt Monroe and The Secret Society”

Guest Post

In today’s books there is so much about evil…and evil winning the day. My book does not ignore that evil exists, but it shows that in the end good wins. This has been the case throughout history; evil has its day; however, after much darkness [for example Hitler and World War II], evil falls. In recent years, books and movies seem to embrace evil. For example, vampires in original fiction books were only able to come out at night, and if they saw a cross they ducked their heads in fear. In today’s movies and fiction writing, vampires can walk the earth in daylight and crush crosses with their bare hands. Today for some reason evil is praised while good is mocked. This seems to make it easier for young people to just go with the flow toward evil, instead of fighting for what it right.

In my books evil will not be taken lightly. It may take a while, but good will win out in mystories; just as it does in real life. I want to teach our youth that being on the “good” side is not only heroic, but it the winning side.

I hope to develop interesting story lines that are fun to follow. The joy in writing as well as in reading is the story. My writing will try to keep you on the edge of your seat, trying to guess where the characters will lead you. The stories will be uplifting, containing positive role models for young readers.

In my book, Matt Monroe and the Secret Society, a group of teenagers come face to face with evil. How will they handle themselves? What happens when there is betrayal in their midst? Will their friendships be strong enough to survive the tests they will face? These and other questions come to mind when one reads the first book in the Matt Monroe series.

I hope you enjoy my tale of fiction.
