Book Review and Giveaway Waking up Dead

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Title: Waking Up Dead

Author: Margo Bond Collins

Genre: Paranormal Mystery

When Dallas resident Callie Taylor died young, she expected to go to Heaven, or maybe Hell. Instead, she met her fate early thanks to a creep with a knife and a mommy complex. Now she’s witnessed another murder, and she’s not about to let this one go. She’s determined to help solve it before an innocent man goes to prison. And to answer the biggest question of all: why the hell did she wake up in Alabama?

Callie has been murdered, but instead of moving on to the afterlife, she wakes up in Alabama, a long way from home. What is she doing there? Why is she still earthbound?

She meets some “sensitives”, people who can feel her presence, sometimes even see her, but most people aren’t aware she’s there. She moves from house to house in the neighborhood. When she’s at the house of a couple named Molly and Rick, she witnesses the murder on Molly.

Determined to find out who is responsible, she searches for a sensitive to help her, and finds not one, but two. Ashara, the first sensitive she meets, and her grandmother, affectionately called Maw-Maw, will help her get to the bottom of this mystery.

I liked the mystery. It wasn’t too complex, but it was still very surprising, and when the pieces finally clicked together, I hadn’t seen it coming at all. It was a total AHA-moment.

Callie was a lovely character. I liked Ashara as well, although she could be a bit too demanding at times. She definitely had a strong personality. Callie was more like your regular girl next door, very down to earth (even for a ghost) and with a sarcastic sense of humor. Maw-Maw was simply adorable, old yet determined to tag along with everything they did.

This was a great read. Well-written, with fluent dialogue, interesting characters and a decent plot.
