Today I’m having author Carol Braswell on my blog for an interview. Thanks for answering my questions, Carol! I hope you had fun answering them – I certainly had fun coming up with the questions.
1) Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Oh a pantser for sure. I never know how a book will end (except happily ever after) until the last chapter. I’ve tried planning out a story
and it just doesn’t work for me. I want the characters to do the plotting.
2) Where did you get the inspiration for Finding Amy?
Several years ago, I was a witness in the trail of a man who tried to hire someone to kill his girlfriend. It kind of stuck with me and two
years ago another man tried to hire someone to kill his wife. I read about it in the local news paper. The idea started to form. The next
day, while waiting at the deli for lunch meat, I spotted a Texas Ranger waiting also. He was too handsome for words and answered my
questions while I graveled at his feet. He even agreed to come speak at one of our chapter meetings. Amy was off and running.
3) Is this book part of a series?
I have already started Chasing Jamie but I may tell Amy and Jamie’s little sisters story first. So, yes, this is the first of at least three
books if not more. Carson and Rex have a little brother in college. I have a feeling he’ll want his story.
4) What is your daily page or word count record?
When I write, I average 1,500 words per day. If I wrote that every day the book would be finished in less than 3 months. But I don’t
write everyday. I have a book by my computer and when I’m through for the day, I write the word count. It is a way of motivation for
me to beat the day before.
5) Please tell us a little about Finding Amy!
Amy Summers has gone into hiding with her twin, Jamie Kenner due to Jamie’s estranged husband. Texas Ranger, Carson Garret has information that Jamie is the target of a hit ordered by her husband. Carson’s job is to locate Amy who is the only person who knows where her sister is, before the hit man finds Jamie. Not an easy task since Amy isn’t talking.
6) What is your favorite romantic suspense novel of all time?
Oh my. That’s a tough one. Of course just about anything Nora Roberts writes but Linda Howard, Cherry Adair, Amanda Quick, all rank right up there and I could go on and on. But I’m not one to read a book over. Once is enough. My reading habits are all over the map. What I pick up depends on the mood I’m in.
7) What are you working on right now?
I’m doing a final read through of Finding Amy and writing Chasing Jamie. A good friend at my RWA chapter suggested the suspense part for Jamie’s story and I started running with it. It pays to do a little brain storming with fellow writers.
Author: Carol Braswell
Genre: Romantic Suspense
What begins in Montana as routine for Texas Ranger Carson Garrett, quickly turns into a ‘run for your life’ chase in order to protect the two women and child he is returning to Texas.
How far would you go to protect the ones you love?
When Texas Ranger, Carson Garrett is assigned to locate and place in protective custody the wife of a man suspected of illegal activities with a Columbian drug lord, it turns into more than routine. The estranged husband has put out a hit on his wife and the only person who knows where she is hiding is her twin sister, Amy Summers.
Protecting the sister she loves may be the thing that destroys her…
It is a race against time for Carson to find Amy, convenience her of the imminent danger and get her to lead him to Jamie so he can escort both women and Jamie’s four-year-old child back to Texas.
Even if they make it can love on the run survive?
Besides the obvious problems of running from a man who is trying to kill them, Carson and Amy have an instant attraction to each other and it is clouding his usual sharp judgment and causing them both to make costly mistakes.
A determined hitman, a diabolical plan. There is only one way to stop them both…
I love to write. I love to put characters in situations that seems impossible to get out of. Almost. Then, out of the blue, along comes that sexy, breathtakingly, handsome hero who can and will save the day. Sometimes, (I like this part), it’s the heroine who steps up and saves the day. I love to write. Did I mention that? Anyway, I love mystery, suspense and the forever kind of love. When someone asks me, “what do you write?” I can’t say romance. It’s not that simple. I want action, adventure, suspense with caring, loving, sexy, characters that seem to find trouble wherever they go.
I am married to my real life sexy hero who finds my imagination intriguing, but refuses to read my books. Thank God. Our, live-at-home children greet us at the door with tongues hanging and tails wagging. They travel with us when we vacation and get depressed when we have to leave them. We have four grown children who live close enough for us to see often.
