I’m hosting an excerpt today from “Misunderstandings”, a M/M contemporary romance novel by author Angel Rothamel. The novel sounds like a great read – unfortunately I don’t have time to review it, else I’d definitely take a look! Either way, enjoy the excerpt.

Dan quickly walked over and leaned against the tree beside the bench that Dallas had fallen asleep on. His breath caught in his throat at how fucking sexy the pilot was. He had to figure out how to get over his prejudices and really get to know the man. Dan knew he needed to clear the air with Dallas; he was ashamed of the way he acted. His mother taught him better than to treat others according to his mood.
The man looked so peaceful, so innocent. He didn’t look like the prima donna Dan had originally met.
Settling back to watch the man, he allowed himself to relax. He had a headache and he desperately needed to decompress for a little while.
After a few minutes, when he felt the peacefulness of not only the city, but the slumbering man seep into his soul, he walked over and sat at the other end of the bench.
“Dallas,” he said softly, not wanting to startle the man.
He watched the man slowly come awake, smiling softly when he jerked up and looked around frantically for a few moments before his gaze landed on Dan’s.
“Hey, sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.”
Watching as the pilot patted himself down, looking for his wallet and such he smiled when the man sighed in relief.
“Probably not the best idea I’ve had, falling asleep on a park bench. What time is it?”
“It’s just after twelve, and no it’s not, but it’s okay. You’ve had a long few days.”
“Yeah, but still. It’s not safe,” Dallas said as he ran his fingers through his hair and stretched his neck and shoulders.
“So what did you see here? Where would you recommend?” Dan asked.
“Well, the main thing I wanted to come to Santa Fe to see was the Loretto Chapel. It’s where I was when Lucian called.”
“Would you mind going back and showing me?” Dan asked.
“If you would like to,” Dallas said. “I just find it fascinating and beautiful. I heard about it on television and have been curious about it since.”
“I’ve never heard of it, what’s up with the Chapel?” Dan asked.
Dan stood up and held out his hand to Dallas, willing the man to take it. Finally, he smiled when the strong hand was placed in his and he was able to pull the man up.
As they walked, Dan listened to Dallas tell him the story of the chapel with the miraculous staircase. By the time they arrived at the small chapel, Dan was just as curious about the place as the pilot was.
They spent the next few hours checking out the chapel, chatting about how the architect could have done it, miracles and all sorts of things while they walked around Santa Fe and ate a quick bite at a small burrito place. Whether consciously or subconsciously neither man brought up any personal topics, they stoically stayed on completely general topics.

She insists on a happily ever after, at least for now, but she also says that ‘the more drama they have to overcome the better. I like real stories, stories that take you on the gambit of emotions.’ She loves hearing that her readers laughed, cried, and even went so far as to want to smack the characters and ask… WTF!
She currently lives in Southeast Texas with her two dogs, a beagle Daisy and Chihuahua Bonita, along with her good friend Chris.
